AUMINGJA ÍSLAND, TIL HAMINGJU!

Þetta afmælismyndband er brot úr heimildarmynd í vinnslu. Við sem að myndinni stöndum ákváðum að deila þessum fallegu minningum með íslensku þjóðinni á þessum tímamótum, rifja upp á veraldarvefnum, baráttu, vonir og þrár almennings á Íslandi sem virðast hreinlega hafa gufað upp. Þetta eru allavega draumkenndar kvikmyndatökur á þriggja ára afmæli ríkisstjórnarinnar og búsáhaldabyltingarinnar, til hamingju.

Hér má sjá Íslendinga sem skunduðu ekki á Þingvöll heldur á Austurvöll til að treysta sín heit og reyndu að bylta því óstjórnarsamfélagi spillingar, siðblindu og botnlausrar græðgi fjárglæframanna; óstjórnarsamfélagi sem endanlega hrundi yfir allan almenning í landinu. Með þrautseigju og baráttugleði tókst fólkinu að knýja fram uppgjöf hrunstjórnarinnar og kalla fram nýjar kosningar. Sjáið gleðina og einbeittan viljann sem skín úr augum almennings í afmælismyndbandinu, til hamingju.

Nú þremur afmælisárum síðar hefur helstu pólitíkusum hrunsins verið komið í góð embætti hjá alþjóðlegum stofnunum fyrir ömurlega illa unnin störf fyrir land og þjóð. Halldór Ásgrímsson í Kaupmannahöfn, Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir í Kabúl, Árni Matthiesen í Róm og margir hrunverjar sitja enn á Alþingi með Jóhönnu Sigurðardóttur f.v. ráðherra í hrunstjórninni sem forsætisráðherra, til hamingju.

Staða forsætisráðherrans f.v. sem stýrði þjóðinni í þrot er reyndar enn óráðin, líkt og staða Forsetans, sem sýnir á sér ekkert fararsnið eftir sextán ár í embætti.

Aumingja Ísland, til hamingju.

Live @ FLUC Vienna

We just done two concerts in Vienna as part of The Morning Line. The first one was at FLUC. The second was at Scwarzenberger Platz, where the Morning Line is located.

This footage is from FLUC and Anna Ceeh recorded it.

It was a good concert. Finnbogi Pétursson joined us for the both concert. Totally Amazing.

Venn and Venice R Over

The trip started early last Saturday morning when we met up in the centre of Reykjavik, Curver fresh from DJ-ing at 5am and Mr E fresh from waking up. We caught the plane to London, and picked up a car to drive to Bristol where we were due to play at the Venn Festival.
We arrived late afternoon in Bristol. Hit the hotel for an afternoon siesta, as one does after having travelled from early morning. Our concert was at the Thekla Social Club, a ship moored in Bristol. A very nice venue indeed. Trabant are playing there later this month. We did our 42.02 minute set, with no technical hitches. It was a good concert for us, and good to play to the audience as this was our first concert in the UK for nearly a year.
The Sunday was an early wake up call and a drive to Heathrow and Gatwick and onwards to Venice, where we were to play at Steingrímur Eyfjörð’s exhibition at the Venice Bianale. His exhibition was very good. We played a two hour set. It had minor hiccups in the beginning, but then we got the mechanisms working. We abandoned doing a normal set within, the other was tremendous enough.
We are back to Iceland. Doing a remix, the Radium concert and other minor twitches.

Nýhöfn Or What?

Hitting Toad’s Place not been there in years, as if I should remember?! Well I did. And called Bragi. We got friends showing up: Peter from Casperelectronics came and lent Curver one of his Instruments which Curver used for the Concert.

Joe Lally joined the line up of the tour. He played a very good set, which we shall follow the developement of in the next few days

Cleveland is Klífland

Escaping storm in Columbus to venture into Cleveland, where we went into the Rocknrollhalloffame. Had a walk around, and just listened to some good words from J.Strummer and P.Smith. That was inspiring.

In our soundcheck I started the new party song, Curver was not impressed. So I stopped.

The concert was good, Curver is playing guitar in some songs, and it makes it fun. We are onto Buffalo tomorrow. Onwards…

Feel Like Foreign Land

It is warm here, and we feel like it is a foreign land. The atmosphere is humid, crickets sound. This I only associate with foreign land. Foreign land vs homeland makes it a different experience. Unfamiliar with this type of weather makes this foreign and I get the feeling that I travelling, heh! And and this I realise with the 9th concert in a row ahead.

I have a thing about restrooms. Everytime I go into one I find no place to rest. Just a room full of toilets, urinals and towels. Nothing to rest in or on. Strange.

Tonight Curver met Stephen Nichols, whose only crime was he played guitar and Curver had met previously in Iceland @ the Airwaves festival.
Without further thought he was enlisted to do the guitar 10 minutes before the gig. He did well. The concert was good. We get better all the time, in inglis.

The Power Lunga

The Power of L.ung.a was certainly with us last night, when we played the festival. With a small introduction to our set, explaining that we were going to do a new song that night.
So new that we had never heard ourselves before.Lunga is Lung, so we used our lungs to deliver a powerful set, forgetting the time and place. Really happy with it, the new song was good, working title of Load. Ghostigital last night were: Curver, Mr.E, The New Elvis and Kaktusþ

Ghostigital can only say kærar þakkir to the people of Seyðisfjörður and Lunga. Jú takk fyrir okkur! Við getum auðvitað talað íslensku, og hefur þetta verið frábært að vera hér.

We head today out to Snæfell, second highest mountain in Iceland. We are going to play at a family camp of Freinds of Iceland, Íslandsvinir, which is based there.
We are going to lend the support of no more dams in Iceland which call up on the destruction of Icelandic nature. Stop the DamNation

We were going through our archives and found a video we done on our mobile phones last year, yes that is 2005, in March.

The track is Good Evening, which later turned into Good Morning and is the opening track on In Cod We Trust. The vocals were done at the same time we done the video recording. Location is Hlemmur in Reykjavik.

We Return From The USA

Ghostigital has returned from the USA, in one piece, and very happy. We should say in 5 piece as we were five in the band. We have done our 5 gigs in 6 days, with no loss of anything. Sanity was in place the whole excursion and we enjoyed it. Sensational joined us in New York in a monumental appearance and performance. Did we record it? Yes we did. And for the record: it will be on our live album.

Next weekend we are playing at the Reykjavik Trópík festival in Iceland, where we will perform most of our album In Cod We Trust. The venue is a tent, outside the University of Iceland. More festival appearances should materialize later in the week.
